A taste of home, straight from Saigon — Y Đỉnh Vietnam Craft Eats

Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is the hometown of Li Mei-lan. Born into a family of restaurateurs, she carries a deep attachment to the flavors she grew up with. In 2019, she and her husband, Lai Chien-hsun, opened Y Đỉnh on Taipei's Wuxing Street to recreate authentic southern Vietnamese cooking.

The couple returned to Vietnam three times to hone their skills, bringing back treasured recipes passed down from her grandfather's restaurant. Made only from beef bones, the broth is slowly simmered and painstakingly skimmed, creating authentic pho that is both rich and clean. Baguettes are baked fresh each day at their own bakery and spread with premium French butter straight from the oven. Crisp and fragrant with butter, they come alive with a dip in Mei-lan's rich signature curry sauce.

Fresh spring rolls reveal vibrant green herbs, while fried net-wrapper spring rolls are crisp without being greasy. Richness meets freshness, and delicate flavors meet a satisfying crunch: every bite reflects practiced skill. Their hot-and-sour pho with grilled chicken leg even earned enthusiastic praise from Wu Pao-chun.
